From Imagination to Reality
In 2013 we saw the need for unleashing the innovative capacity within the student population, in order to help find solutions to the challenges of society. Since then, we have persistently pursued the creation of a physical space and organizational framework for student-driven innovation, serving as a platform for uniting all the passionate millennials, enabling them to gather, collaborate, and co-create for positive societal impact, by applying their academic knowledge in practical settings.
From the very beginning, the Copenhagen Business School (CBS) organization and management, have supported the student-driven vision and project, among others by helping us acquire the old historic Police Station at Frederiksberg. While we spent the first four years gathering funding for the retrofit of the building, the last year – 2017 – marks the birth of the organization and the first prototypes of the partnerships, communities and activities enabling students to create real, positive impact.
The house has served as a police station from 1920 to 2012, situated right in the middle of Frederiksberg. This huge building of more than 3000 square meters, with its numerous spacious and historic rooms will now be transformed into a modern, sustainable space for inspiration, collaboration and work attracting innovation minded students and external collaborators.
What Do We Believe In
Society is changing drastically. Complex changes, both globally and locally, call for intelligent and innovative solutions. We, the students, play a vital role in defining and implementing these solutions. To do so, we need to be equipped with the ambition, values and tools to face these challenges to work towards creating a better and more sustainable world.
The old police station at Frederiksberg will be rebuilt into a visionary and engaging Student and Innovation House, where students seek to break down silos, build bridges between students with different competencies and coupling student and the surrounding society to create collaboration across various sectors and academic fields. This includes private, public and civic actors and organizations.
In the house, we will create a safe environment for sharing ideas, innovative thinking and application of academic skills for the students. This will be anchored in both the physical design, activities and partnerships of the house. We now invite everyone to join us in our goal to connect and empower students to break down silos and make an impact.
Developing Student Driven Organization
Our signature activities are the activities we are doing and have in the pipeline both inside and outside the house. It includes all of the passion based prototypes that our hardworking volunteers are currently working towards implementing as a signature event, process, course etc. It also includes all the activities that will be held in the house after its official opening.
Our communities is what brings the silos together, Student Society (briding students and student organisations across educational institutions), Research Community (building relations between students and researchers, including translating research into practice) and Partner Community (strengthening meaningful collaborations between students and private, public and civil actors).
The backbone structure
This is, as the word itself describe, the backbone in our organization – what makes the wheel turn. For the most parts of our backbone structure, the majority of the impact will be on the user and organization, but, the further we come towards a finalized house, the more impact we can have on the ecosystem and society.
